The Role

As a mechanical estimator, your responsibilities include researching materials, sourcing options, labor, and permit costs for a given project. You collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to compile appropriate estimates.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. • Specification and Design: You provide specifications and design for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems within defined budgets for architectural projects.
   • Estimating Mechanical Systems: This involves assessing various components such as subway station ventilation equipment, HVAC, building automation, plumbing, hydronic systems, storm drainage, utilities, fire protection, and more.
   • Experience and Proficiency: You ideally have extensive experience in a similar role within the construction industry and develop proficiency in using company estimating systems and processes.
   • Estimate Types: You prepare different types of estimates, including order-of-magnitude, conceptual, feasibility, pre-design, budget, value engineering, control, definitive, and final Engineer’s estimates.
   • Project Size: You can estimate sections of larger projects or provide full estimates for smaller to mid-size projects.
   • Efficient Operation: Ensuring the efficient operation of all systems according to the Business Management System (BMS) is part of your responsibility.
   • Commercial Requirements: You analyze inquiry contents, extract commercial requirements, and communicate them to relevant departments.
   • Quantity Take-Offs: You perform quantity take-offs for materials and labor operations.
