The Role

The HES Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing company-wide health, safety, and environmental policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves strategic planning, staff training, compliance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives within the commercial construction sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enforce comprehensive safety management programs including policies, inspections, audits, and compliance tracking.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement preventative measures.
  • Oversee the environmental impact of the construction projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Lead emergency response planning and incident management, including investigation and reporting of accidents or violations.
  • Manage training programs for employees on HES practices, standards, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with construction managers to integrate safety protocols into project planning and execution.
  • Monitor HES performance metrics and report to senior management with recommendations for improvement.
  • Serve as the primary contact for regulatory bodies and external auditors.
  • Stay abreast of new legislation and best practices in the field of health, safety, and environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in HES management, preferably in the commercial construction sector.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance.
  • Proven ability to lead and train teams in HES practices.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
