The Role

A Director of Estimating plays a crucial role in managing and overseeing the estimating functions within a company.

Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Management:
   • Lead the estimating team and develop standards, procedures, tools, and methodologies for cost estimation
   • Provide strong leadership and support to ensure accurate production rates and competitive bids
2. Cost Estimation:
   • Produce detailed cost estimates based on project requirements, specifications, and proposals
   • Incorporate benchmark data, trends, and historical pricing to generate itemized lists of expenses, labor hours, material quantities, and potential cost variations
3. Collaboration:
   • Work closely with engineers, architects, subcontractors, contractors, and vendors to adjust or change cost estimates and determine project feasibility
   • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment and understanding of project costs
